OPEN FESTIVAL…
Last years winners and runners-up were screened at Flatpack 6.0 and on BBC Big screen across the UK, during March 2012 (pic above: Gary Jones & Charlotte McCabe in front of their animation: Overtime on BBC Big Screen Birmingham).
Submissions for FLIP Festival 2012 are now open until 13/7/2012; see the submissions page for more info. We’ll be revamping the website really soon and we hope to bring you even more events at FLIP, so there will be lots of ways to get involved.
This year, the lovely people at wetrnasfer.com have offered us our very own FLIP Festival channel to make it easier than ever to submit your films online… no need to register just send the files to shorts@flipfestival.co.uk.
Keep on animating!
Thanks

Howdy,
Flatpack Festival is another one of those great midlands based festivals that takes place each year, so we’re delighted to announce that a selection of our audience choice and runners up programme will be screened on Thursday 15th & Friday 16th March, 12pm both days at Cafe Costes
The short compilation showcases some of the Audience Choice winners and runners up from Flip 2011 and include; a story of creation from Kenya The Legend of Ngong Hills (dir. Kwame Nyong’o), a very nosey elderly couple John & Betty (dir. Alex Hancocks & Luke George), unwelcomed advice in Dead Bird (dir. Trevor Hardy), a trippy dream from Tel Aviv Iluzia (dir. Udi Asoulin & Uriah Naeh), as well as a new take on Robin Hood (dir. Ben Smith), and locally produced Caged (dir. Ravi Maheru) and Overtime (dir. Gary Jones).
Sadly not all films are able to be shown due to the content and timing of the screening, so here’s a special thanks to Francesca Adams, Bertie Crisp and Sarah Van Den Boom, The Skeleton Woman for your quick responses and cooperation – Animation’s not just for children!
If you would like to host a screening party of the full Flip 2011: Audience Choice & Runners Up, at your university please get in touch with us flip@light-house.co.uk
Flatpack festival runs from 14th – 18th March , here’s a few other animation highlights that will be featured across the fesitval

Winners & Sponsors
Posted on 24. Oct, 2011 by Renata Walton in blog
Well I bet you’ve all been wondering how we will choose the winners at this years Flip, and after much deliberation and chatting to you guys, one of the best things about this festival is the sense of community, so we’re going to leave it up to the community on a whole to decide the winners in each section & category.
So your films will be judge, on the day, by a mixture of those in the industry or academia, in the Wolverhampton community, those that have their work featured and festival staff & volunteers. So pick up your voting forms at the information point just before each screening.
We’re also delighted to announce that the winners will receive a rather lovely prize pack, including some wicked StopMotion Pro software, official sponsors of Flip 2011.
So look out 2012, we’ll see a massive influx of some brilliant stop motion films hitting the big screens…
